Choosing to bowl first on a damp track after winning the toss, seamer Ollie Gill struck twice early on before the hosts began to build momentum. Spin once again provided the turning point as the introduction of Steve Caine saw him produce prodigious turn to claim two quick scalps.

Strike bowler Cam Wallis (1-17) then returned to pick up one of his own, whilst youngsters Patrick Smallman (1-25) and Sam Baugh both bowled well, belying their lack of second team experience.

Streetly's Akbar Ahmed (95) then enabled his side to recover, and after skipper Alex Yarnley (2-11) chipped in towards the end, the hosts finished on 200-8 off 50 overs.

The following run chase started well for Bridgnorth, before Yarnley and Andy Carson were dismissed in quick succession. However, this saw run machine Andrew Mooney join opener Glenn Edwards, and the pair quickly got into their stride by punishing the bad balls and running well between the wickets.

When Edwards was dismissed for a fine 71, Wallis proved another reliable ally to the insatiable Mooney by rotating the strike well, and the pair took their side to the brink of victory before Mooney (69) was removed in the unluckiest of fashions. A Wallis straight drive was deflected into the stumps at the non-strikers' end with the left-hander backing up and out of his ground.

With Wallis (26) being bowled soon after, Smallman wasted no further time by whacking his second ball for six as Bridgnorth got over the winning line in style with eight overs remaining.

Next week sees the seconds travel to title rivals Oswestry, with just a single point separating the two sides, in a game which could prove pivotal in deciding who takes the league silverware in 2015.
