A batting line-up missing a number of regular names were unable to post a competitive total, before missing chances in the field.

Asked to bat first on a green wicket, skipper Alex Yarnley was dismissed in the third over, but fellow opener Andy Carson was joined by Andy Mooney as the pair sought to build a platform. They batted positively and appeared to be setting their side up for a good total before Carson was removed for 33.

Unfortunately, youngster Jack Welch was the only other batsman to reach double figures as Whitchurch stormed into the ascendancy. Mooney was the only man to particularly trouble the hosts with a well compiled 57, but eventually ran out of partners as Bridgnorth were dismissed for 133 in the 41st over.

In reply, Cam Wallis (1-34) and Ben Leather (1-15) claimed an early wicket apiece for the Cricket Meadow men. However, a number of chances were then spurned to take what would have turned out to be the key wicket of Tinsley, who finished unbeaten on 95. Yarnley took 3-29, but fellow spinner Steve Caine was unlucky not to take wickets as catches were dropped in the deep.

Cashing in on the many chances handed to them, the hosts clinched the victory in the 31st over, to condemn Bridgnorth to their first defeat of the season. Now trailing new league leaders Oswestry by four points, they will look to bounce back against Brewood at Cricket Meadow on Saturday.
