Despite losing a wicket in the fifth over, skipper Alex Yarnley (39) got going well early on alongside Ben Barclay (28), then Gareth Mumford (34) as the top order played positively. The dismissal of Yarnley saw run-machine Matt Martin join Mumford in the middle, who once again top-scored with an unbeaten 64.

Cameos from Ollie Gill and Cam Wallis, alongside the irrepressible Martin, took Bridgnorth to 242-6 off their 40 overs.

Further rain delays then saw the hosts given 32 overs to bat and a winning draw target of 172. An early wicket for Cam Wallis (1-20) gave Bridgnorth early hope, but was instead the signal for Aston Manor to defend their position. Dougie Roberts (1-19) took the second, but a couple of missed chances cost the Cricket Meadow men further bowling points.

However, on a track that favoured the batsmen it was always going to be difficult to take ten wickets, and with a run-out the only other breakthrough, the hosts completed their innings on 134-3.

Now with a 30-point lead at the top of BDPCL Reserve Division Two North, the 2nds travel to C&R Hawkins on Saturday who lie in third place.
