Asked to bat first on a tricky wicket, the Cricket Meadow men suffered familiar frailties with the bat, although Greg Lewis (28) dug in to provide some grit in the middle order. Finding themselves 66-7, the tail wagged courtesy of Doug Roberts (36*) and Steve Caine (25) as the pair enabled their side to reach a competitive 128 all out.
Not wanting to let another chance slip away, Bridgnorth’s bowlers started superbly with both Cam Wallis (1-18) and Andy Leather (2-23) taking a wicket in their first over. The combination of Leather and Caine (3-15) then rendered the hosts batting line-up strokeless as the pressure told. Lewis Hurdley (1-15) and Roberts (2-11) completed a refreshingly effective day for the team in the field as Bridgnorth closed out their first win of the season.
