Bridgnorth wrapped up their third successive victory in BDPCL Division One, cementing their current sixth place in the table...

The bowlers produced an excellent all-round performance to restrict the hosts to just 172, after Sam Whitney had won the toss and chosen to field first. The Cricket Meadow men's confidence in chasing targets has soared in recent weeks, and the decision was soon vindicated as Charlie Morris took two early wickets, including Warwickshire batsman Andrew Umeed.

Tom Weaver and Dan Vernon continued to keep things tight, with Weaver (1-25) rewarded with the wicket of another Warwickshire man in Mark Adair for 21. As the hosts continued to slowly build, it was skipper Whitney who struck in his second over to take the scalp of Australian Jack Harper for 42, which sparked a mini collapse as Morris (4-30) returned to claim two further wickets of his own, before Whitney (2-29) got a second.

As Moseley went from 99-3 to 108-7, a fightback from the lower order got the hosts up to a decent total, but a Whitney run-out and two late dismissals for James Ralph (2-30) saw the innings ended with an over remaining.

Despite their excellent record in chasing down totals in recent weeks, Bridgnorth still approached their latest run chase with caution, aware of Moseley's experienced bowling attack. Openers Ralph and Dave Exall started solidly but steadily to see off the new ball, before Exall (24) was dismissed at 44-1.

Two further quick wickets, including that of Ralph for a watchful 17, put the game back in the balance. But Simon Gregory (38) and Vernon (58) came together to produce an excellent 70-run partnership, both striking the ball with confidence to illustrate a welcome return to form, before both were dismissed trying to finish the job in style.

It was left to last week's batting hero Matt Martin (15 not out) to apply the finishing touches to the chase, firstly with Vernon, before Morris joined in to complete the job in the 45th over.

Whitney was delighted with his side's efforts, and encouraged his side to continue to improve. "In the last few games all the batsmen have seen their form return, and our confidence in getting runs is building with each match. The bowlers also did a great job as well today to restrict them to that total.

"We've still got a lot of work to do this year, and there's a lot of teams still close together in the table. We really want to maintain the pressure on the top four, but also be wary of the chasing pack below us, as there is no such thing as an easy game this season."
