The Cricket Meadow men made an excellent start as openers Ralph and Ryan Lockley (30) posted 108 runs for the first wicket, before Dave Exall (88) continued his side’s domination with the bat. A partnership of 127 for the 2nd wicket, littered with powerful shots, was followed by sparky cameos from the rest of the middle order.
An imposing final score of 340-5 off 50 overs would ultimately prove to be far too strong for the hosts, who got off to the worst possible start in reply, as Exall reduced them to 7-4 in an opening spell of 5-13 off 9 overs.
The hosts never looked like threatening the dominance of the visitors, with only the weather looking like preventing the Cricket Meadow men from finishing their demolition job. Two wickets apiece for Toby Hughes (2-4) and Cam Wallis (2-15), helped by some superb work behind the stumps from Gareth Mumford, and a scalp for Tom Weston (1-19) brought the game to its inevitable conclusion in the 33rd over.
