Having won the toss and choosing to bat, the hosts were reduced to 21-3 in the 6th over, with Ben Leather (2-14) taking his first & second 1st team wickets in successive deliveries. Tom Weaver (4-35) also found some good early season form, as Aston Manor found themselves reeling at 53-6 in the 15th over.
Some late order hitting brought some respectability to the Birmingham outfit’s batting effort, before the innings was ended in the 34th over, Aston Manor dismissed for 132. Nick Gray took a brace of wickets late in the piece, with brothers Jono & Sam Whitney taking a scalp apiece.
Opening batsmen Andy Carson (42*) and Harry Martin (57) got Bridgnorth off to a flyer in reply, Martin playing particularly aggressively to post his maiden 1st team half-century. Once the 105-run opening partnership had been broken in the 18th over, Carson and James Ralph (17*) finished off the job for the Cricket Meadow men.
Bridgnorth will be hoping for a similar performance at home next week when they host Penkridge, a highly-fancied favourite for the league title this season.
