Roman Walker's 8-44 on the first day set the platform for Shropshire's first Championship win of the season last weekend, and helped see the County Club taste victory once again at a sun-scorched Cricket Meadow.

Immense efforts from Bridgnorth's hard-working team saw both sides fight hard on a hard and true wicket, despite the recent wall-to-wall sunshine. After Walker's memorable job with the ball, debutant Fin Jones hit an eye-catching 78 to complete a dominant show from the home county on day one. Former Bridgnorth batsman Seb Scott then hit 60 in the first innings following Harry Chandler's watchful 71, before Walker completed an excellent all-round display with a half century of his own as Shropshire continued to hold the cards on day two.

With matches at Cricket Meadow having a history of going to the wire, Wales showed admirable fight on the third morning, and thanks to a superb century from Rhodri Lewis, both sides appeared to be in the contest as the game entered the final afternoon.

But a counter-attacking 64 from Joe Johnson, son of former Zimbabwean all-rounder Neil, set up the chase, before Scott made the most of familiar batting conditions with a flamboyant 28-ball 58 as Shropshire clinched victory in the final hour of play.
