Junior Players Code of Conduct

Junior Players Code of Conduct

Overview

Bridgnorth Cricket Club prides itself on its junior cricket section. For over 30 years we have invited children to the club and provided them with a consistent, quality and safe environment in which to play and enjoy the game.

We currently run four junior age-group sides: U10s, U11s, U13s and U15s, and three Cup Knockout sides: U12s, U14s and U17s.

A number of the players have consistently represented the club in District and County sides.

For 12 weeks during the season the club runs the ECB Inter Cricket Award Scheme - an initiative in assocation with NatWest. This is targeted at children in school year 3 and above. We also run high-skill net and one-to-one coaching sessions for our junior age group sides, which are led by one of our Shropshire Cricket Board Excellence Coaches. The club is proud to have 14 ECB-qualified coaches, who give their time freely to youth cricket.

As part of our clubmark accreditation all coaches have attended child protection courses, first aid courses and are fully qualified ECBCA coaches ensuring the sport can be coached in the safest atmosphere and at the highest level. This does not affect the ethos "enjoy the sport, play the sport".

The club has a welfare officer and is committed to the ECB policies of 'safe hands'.

CHAIRMAN OF JUNIOR CRICKET: Jonathan Martin

Match Reports

U10s Report

Bridgnorth U10s scored their third consecutive victory on Sunday with a close 8-run win over St Georges. Skipper Jack Welch led from the front with the bat, scoring 20, and was well supported by Harry Walker with 15. Fredie Harries returned excellent figures of 3 for 18 with the ball.

This had followed a 17-run victory at Oswestry, thanks to Harry Walker scoring 12 and Glen Thompson, who hit a match-winning 10. Fredie Harries, Jack Welch and Liam Desai took the wickets.

The team's first game saw an emphatic win over Lilleshall. Calum Hill scored 21 and skipper Welch was again in form making 14. Matthew Hodgkiss had a great day with the ball, taking 4 wickets, with 2 wickets each for Welch, Haries, Hill and Walker.

The team are performing very well as these results show, under the coaching guidance of Matt Martin and Tom Baugh. Will Grainger, George Marsh, Owen Gumby, Alex Starr and Andrew Speke have all contributed to the team's successful start to the season.
