Equity Policy Statement
This club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:
- Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.
- The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.
- The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
- All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity.
- The club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously, according to club disciplinary procedures.
General Code of Conduct for Players
The England & Wales Cricket Board expect coaches to ensure that their players conform with the following:
- Behaviour and dress at grounds, both on and off the field should be in keeping with the dignity and best interests of the game
- Foul and/or abusive language on or off the field is unacceptable
- Intimidation, aggressive behaviour and/or deliberate distraction of opponents by words or actions is unacceptable
- Dissent at umpires' decisions is unacceptable
- It is expected that teams will do their utmost to win but the highest standards of sportsmanship in keeping with the spirit of the game should be displayed
- Players and teams involved in matches organised by the ECB will also be expected to conform to the codes of conduct as set out in the club manual, 'Playing the Game' and other publications.
Codes of Conduct - Junior Section
Mission Statement
Junior cricket as organised by Bridgnorth Cricket Club is a game for the players. Officials, Coaches, Parents/Carers generously give of their time and while playing a key role in the scheme of operations, we do not lose the fact that they do so for the benefit of the players.
As such we accept that they ensure and facilitate:
- The safety of the players at games and training.
- The enjoyment of the players.
- The efficient and smooth running of training sessions and games.
- The development of sportsmanship in all players.
The managements of all member clubs and teams agree to assist each other by mutual sharing of knowledge in a constructive and congenial manner. We respect the rights of others to an opinion that may differ from our own and accept that those opinions may not necessarily be wrong.
The Code
We agree that this code covers all officials, team managers, coaches, players, parents and spectators involved in the game of cricket at junior level whilst representing Bridgnorth Cricket Club. As subscribers to this code of conduct, we accept that those covered by this code will not engage in disorderly or improper conduct or behavior, which in any way could be detrimental to the spirit of cricket or bring cricket into disrepute or which could distract from other peoples enjoyment of the game.
Definition
We accept that disorder or improper conduct or behavior includes but is not limited to the following: -
- Any on or off field comment specifically or generally directed at a player in such a way as to unnerve the other player "Sledging". Note Players are able to encourage their fellow team members but such encouragement should not involve any comment that concerns the ability or attributes of an opposing team member.
- Assaulting or attempting to assault by word or action anyone covered by the code.
- Disputing (As distinct from questioning politely) an umpires decision or reacting in a provocative manner towards an umpire.
- Using profane, crude, abusive language or hand signals or gestures.
As subscribers to this code of conduct we will do our utmost to ensure that all people covered by this code are aware of and appreciate the sentiments contained herein.
Anti-Bullying Policy
We are committed to the prevention and effective management of bullying behaviour relating to children, young people and vulnerable adults, engaging in sport and physical activities at Bridgnorth Cricket Club.
This policy aims to:
- Provide coaches, managers, volunteers and officials with information if they are concerned about bullying
- Provide children, vulnerable adults and parent's information about what steps are being taken to safeguard against bullying
- Set clear and consisent standards of behaviour
- Establish an operation framework and introduce procedures of action to take if there are concerns about unacceptable behaviour
- Assure all children and vulnerable adults that they will be participating in a safe/friendly environment and that their wellbeing is our priority
- Ensure that the rights of children and young people to protection from abuse and neglect are upheld
