1st XI v Halesowen (Home) - Losing Draw
Having lost the toss Bridgnorth batted first on a wicket that was unseasonably damp and tailor made for Halesowen seamers. They made life difficult for their hosts as only teenager Tom Weston of the top-order appeared equipped for the challenge, batting with both ability and courage to make 42 before being run out.
Skipper Mark Macpherson-Lees top scored batting at Number 9 with 46 adding valuable tail runs with Tom Weaver (19) as the hosts made 173-9. Halesowen in reply were able to settle for a lower total as the rains affect on the game saw their overs reduced.
Jono Whitney (3-34) was again among the wickets supported by Dave Exall (3-26) as Bridgnorth battled for much needed points but Pakistani pro Asif Khan showed his class with 85 the mainstay of his side’s 149-8 and the winning draw points.
2nd XI v Halesowen (Away) - Won by 9 wickets
Bridgnorth made light work of hosts Halesowen with both bat and ball as they kept on the heels of leaders Dorridge with an emphatic nine wicket victory.
Batting first the hosts limped to 99 all out as they had few answers to Andy Leather (5-30) and Liam Brown (3-32) and were then were powerless as Andy Carson (50) lead the reply as the Cricket Meadow side raced to victory inside 16 overs.
3rd XI v Ludlow (Away) - Losing Draw
The third team hung on for a draw against bogey-side Ludlow as availability issues saw a number of changes in personnel for Saturday’s game. Ludlow batted first and came up against an in-form Alex Thomas (4-29) who accounted for the first four batsmen before a solid partnership helped the host’s to 144-7.
In reply Bridgnorth were indebted to Mike Mooney (43), who usually fills the role of scorer, and Stuart Farquhar (23) on his first outing of the summer as they steadied a wobbly start to help their side to 116-7.
1st XI v Ombersley (Away) - Losing Draw
Bridgnorth’s trip to table topping Ombersley on Monday saw them return with the losing draw points as the powerful Worcestershire outfit racked up a challenging 266-9 when batting first.
Macpherson-Lees (4-70) this time lead from the front with the ball and Exall (4-74) was again amongst the wickets. All the early Bridgnorth batsmen got a start before losing their wickets and it fell to keeper Gaz Mumford (77) to take the attack back to the bowlers as he helped his side to 218-8.
After the game the skipper reflected on a weekend that saw his side drop to within two places of the relegation spots “When you are struggling things like tosses go against you and decisions also conspire but we have acquitted ourselves well against two top sides. We now have to produce the goods in the remaining games to get back into a very tight mid table pack”
2nd XI v Dorridge (Home) - Losing Draw
League leaders Dorridge made it clear who was top dog as the top two clashed at Cricket Meadow on Monday as they rattled up an impressive 275-7 against a weakened Bridgnorth side. Liam Brown (2-47) again bowled well with the new ball and Glen Edwards (4-70) stuck to his guns when the run chase came to its climax.
Edwards (50) then showed resilience with the bat in gloomy conditions leading his side to a losing draw on 167-5 to lose touch with the leaders but remain above third placed Wombourne.
