Result - Winning Draw
Bridgnorth's square continued to be a table for run-feasting on Saturday following over 1,000 runs being scored in the three day County match earlier in the week, as the Cricket Meadow batsmen put the visiting Harborne attack to the sword.
Batting first the Town team recovered from the early loss of Jono Whitney, struggling to find club form with the bat, to post a challenging 266-7 from their 55 overs. Top-order runs from the ex-Ludlow duo of Ryan Lockley and Jack Edwards set the base for the promoted Nick Gray to provide some impetous, before the telling innings of skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees and Gaz Mumford, with the keeper-batsman cutting loose to return to the run-scoring form and power that worried opponents previously.
The Birmingham-based visitors then limped along losing early wickets as Tom Weaver, returning from his Minor Counties debut, and Edwards, ripped into the top order. A patient unbeaten 86 from Tom Davies steered a cautious Harborne innings to 171-6 at the close. Bridgnorth were happy to take 16 points from the draw having played much of the cricket, but manager Ray Perry felt that the team had eased off the pedal in the field.
"After a good batting display and then getting them four down quickly we lost some intensity out there, and once he was in Davies proved difficult to move" he said. "Next week sees and season at halfway and halfway up a new league is a good place to kick on from" he added.

Result - Winning Draw
Bridgnorth 2nd XI travelled to Smethwick for a mid-table clash and came away with the lion's share of the points after they played the more positive cricket. Batting first Bridgnorth made 192-8 from their 50 overs, with Glenn Edwards top-scoring with 71 to make a welcome return to form. Greg Lewis also provided handy runs, as did Carlin Anderson, who deposited a huge six onto a team-mate's windscreen!
In reply Smethwick struggled against the swing of Tom Baugh and Liam Brown and shut up shop early, settling for a draw on 170-7, and only really pressed in the final overs as the visitors crowded the bat in search of wickets for victory. The draw points keep the Cricket Meadow outfit in touch with the top sides as the halfway point of the season approaches.
