Result - Winning Draw

The 1st XI visited the Dragons on Saturday, and batting first upon losing the toss seemed to be in some peril at 62-4. Ryan Lockley and Nick Gray fashioned a recovery that Gray continued with the lower order, Conor Goodwin-Tindall adding vital runs from number eight. The visitors finished on 196 all out in the last over.

The hosts run chase saw some odd cricket as their pursuit was a nervy stop-start affair, and from a solid platform they failed to find someone prepared to take the game to the bowlers. Jack Edwards was the pick of the attack for Bridgnorth, as the home side ended up six runs shy of victory with four wickets in the bank.

Skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees was relieved to return with the draw points. "It was good to get more points than them as they are below us in the table," he said, "but I would have been happier with a more convincing performance and maximum points."

Result - Winning Draw

St Georges second-string won the toss in the battle of second and third place and asked their hosts to bat first in seaming conditions. Glenn Edwards and Andrew Carson applied themselves to put on 110 for the first wicket, a platform from which subsequent batsmen were allowed some freedom to play their shots. Cameos from Tom Weston and Ed Mullard provided the appetiser for Matt Martin and Liam Brown to bully the attack and post 274-6.

The Dragons reply got off to a bad start as a direct throw-down of the stumps by Greg Lewis meant indecision from the opening batsmen went punished. Only Dave Pope subsequently provided any response to the offspin of Steve Caine, as he tore through the middle order and, along with Andy Leather, pushed the Cricket Meadow men in sight of victory. However, a stubborn 11-over 10-run stand by the final pair caused the ultimate frustration for the home side.

Despite this disappointment, Bridgnorth grabbed the lions share of the points for playing more than the lions share of the cricket, and leapt over their opponents into second place as the season heads towards an exciting climax.
