Bridgnorth CC 1st XI v Fordhouses (Home)
Bridgnorth 1st XI (243-5) had a winning draw against Fordhouses (137-3)
Batting: P. Thompson 85*, M. MacPherson-Lees 41*
Bowling: J. Whitney 1-.
Rain thwarted Bridgnorth 1st XI's hopes of forcing victory over Fordhouses, although they amassed the highest score of the day in the Birmingham League third division. They were also able to claim the lion's share of the points after losing the toss on a wicket that was kept dry thanks to the efforts of club groundsman Ray Evans.
The early batsmen again got a start without progressing, although Tom Whitney (21), Andy Carson (20) and Jono Whitney (18) nonetheless got the innings off to a solid start. Matt Martin with a run-all 20 gave the innings impetus. Peter Thompson and skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees then figured in an unbroken stand of 111 to boost the total to 243-5. HQ Sports Bar Man of the Match Thompson, with trademark drives, was unbeaten on 85 with the captain 41 not out as he declared after 50 overs.
Jono Whitney claimed an early scalp as he caught and bowled opener Richards for 10 to open a door, but a stand of 74 between Khan (39) and Manzuk (45) took valuable time out of the game and despite both falling in quick succession the weather closed in bringing an early finish with the Wolverhampton side on 137-3, allowing Bridgnorth to claim the points for a winning draw.
