1st XI v Lichfield - Saturday 9th May (BDPCL Div 3)

Bridgnorth CC 1st XI v Lichfield (Away)

Bridgnorth 1st XI (157) lost to Lichfield (187-9) by 30 runs

Batting:
Bowling: T. Weaver 4-53.

Bridgnorth 1st XI's hopes of building on last week's splendid victory in the first Birmingham League match of the season were dashed at Lichfield. Although the home side were rocked back on their heels early in their innings they made a good recovery and went on to beat the Cricket Meadow men by 30 runs in Saturday's third division encounter.

Bridgnorth won the toss and put the home side in, leaving Lichfield to struggle against the pace and swing of Tom Weaver who took 4-53 as the score spluttered to 71-6 and then to 98-8. But the Lichfield tail wagged and the score built up to a respectable total of 187-9.

Bridgnorth made a bad start as they slumped to 19-3 before Matt Martin, Gareth Mumford and skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees came to the crease. However, although the trio made useful starts, they failed to really get going and Bridgnorth were bowled out for 157.

2nd XI v Bromsgrove - Saturday 9th May (BDPCL Res Div 1)

Bridgnorth CC 2nd XI v Bromsgrove (Home)

Bridgnorth 2nd XI (221-8) had a winning draw against Bromsgrove (151-7)

Batting: A. Unitt 60, N. Boxall 40, E. Mullard 18*, E. Lewis 18*
Bowling: S. Caine 6-30.

Bridgnorth 2nds showed some consistency with the bat after their drubbing at Kidderminster the previous week. The town side lot the toss, but good innings from top scorer Andy Unitt (60) and Neil Boxall (40), aided by useful contributions from Ed Mullard and Ed Lewis who both posted unbeaten scores of 18 enabled Bridgnorth to post a total of 221-8.

The Bromsgrove reply was disciplined, but all the Bridgnorth bowlers kept the pressure on, with Steve Caine leading the way by taking 6-30. Bromsgrove finished on 151-7, enabling Bridgnorth to claim an encouraging winning draw with a good team performance, with all the bowlers doing very well.

3rd XI v Quayside - Saturday 9th May (SCL Div 5)

Bridgnorth CC 3rd XI v Quayside (Away)

Bridgnorth 3rd XI (94) lost to Quayside (98-4) by 6 wickets

Batting: H. Davies 36, H. Broad 15.
Bowling:

Following two good wins, Bridgnorth 3rd's batting fell apart at Quayside in Saturday's Shropshire League match. Only Henry Davies (36) and Harry Broad (15) reached double figures as the thirds were bowled out for only 94.

Quayside lost just four wickets as they overtook the Bridgnorth total, with the Bridgnorth bowlers sharing the wickets. Had they scored 20 or 30 runs more, Bridgnorth might have been able to apply more pressure.
