Bridgnorth 1st XI's lead at the top of the Birmingham League Division Three was cut to 12 points on Saturday as they lost by six wickets at Olton & West Warwick.

Only Pete Thompson shone with the bat as Bridgnorth were bowled out for 147. Tom Weaver claimed a wicket in the first over, and three more victims for skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees gave the visitors some hope. But the home side continued to score quickly for a comfortable success.

Although the 2nd XI suffered another defeat, the team battled hard in the field to give the side some hope.

Nick Gray, Dave Bannister and Al Whitby all helped towards a good start, but the all out total of 157 looked insufficient. However, it took the visitors until the 46th over to clinch victory, with Bridgnorth's bowlers sharing the wickets.

3rd XI v Montgomery II - Saturday 27th June (SCL Div 5)

Bridgnorth 3rd XI (137) lost to Montgomery (176-7) by 39 runs

Bowling: L. Brown 3-61.

Liam Brown was the pick of the Bridgnorth bowlers as Montgomery reached 176-7. Despite fielding their strongest side, the 3rd XI were subsequently skittled out for just 137, with skipper Pete Oliver making the top score.

Harry Broad, Dan Taylor, Liam Brown and Cam Wallis all made useful contributions of 10 runs each.

1st XI v Wolverhampton - Sunday 28th June (SSSCL)

Bridgnorth's bowlers shared the wickets as Wolverhampton totalled 181-9 off their allotted 40 overs on Sunday.

In reply, Dave Exall (56), Greg Lewis (35) and Al Whitby (35) batted well to keep Bridgnorth in the game. The Cricket Meadow men needed eight runs off the final over for victory and scrambled seven to tie the match.

A very young Bridgnorth side lost against more experienced opponents who racked up a challenging total of 240-4.

Charles Thornton and Ollie Gill gave Bridgnorth a solid start, but then only skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees was able to make any impression against some very accurate bowling.
