Bridgnorth 1st XI started their Sunday League campaign with a disappointing 107 run loss away at Old Wulfrunians on Sunday.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first, and got off to a flying start in the face of some below par Bridgnorth bowling. Facing the prospect of a huge total Bridgnorth turned to spin, and the bowlers responded as they gradually pegged back the home side's scoring rate. Sam Whitney (1-34) and Mark MacPherson-Lees were the pick of the attack as Old Wulfs finished on 215-4 off their 40 overs.

Bridgnorth were still in the game but the home side's seam bowlers showed how it should be done as they shut down the Bridgnorth scoring completely. At 60-2 off 20 overs the visitors were a long way behind the rate, which led to a lot of batsmen losing their wickets trying to go for the big shots as Bridgnorth were all out for 108 in 35.5 overs. Top scorers were middle-order men MacPherson-Lees with 24 and Whitney with 22.
