Bridgnorth 2nd XI's away day blues continued as they lost their third away match of the season on Saturday as they were soundly thrashed by 10 wickets away at Bromsgrove.
After losing the toss and being put into bat Bridgnorth's top order were made to work very hard for their runs against an experienced Bromsgrove attack who were making full use of the seamer-friendly conditions. At 65-2, with the departure of skipper Eddie Mullard for 15, a young Bridgnorth batting line-up were looking exposed, especially when young starlet Matt Martin was felled with a blow to the lower abdomen. However, opener Glenn Edwards dug in deep for a gritty 41, and together with the battling Martin added 62 for the third wicket. Martin's recovery was complete as he started opening up, fluently stroking all the bowlers on both sides of the wicket as his excellent 88 took Bridgnorth to a challenging 201-8 off 50 overs.
Bridgnorth believed they were now in the box seat, but a combination of ill-disciplined bowling together with some hard-hitting from the Bromsgrove openers soon reversed the match situation. As Mullard rang the changes as he tried to find that elusive first scalp the visitors heads started to drop, and in the end the home side romped to their target with 11 overs still remaining, handing a dispirited Bridgnorth a ruthless 10-wicket defeat.

Gareth Mumford (22), Mark MacPherson-Lees (23) and Liam Brown (24*) all chipped in as well.
In reply Wolverhampton rarely looked in trouble although Simon Pitt (1-19) asked a number of early questions. A wicket apiece for spin twins Mumford and skipper Glenn Edwards was not enough to stem the tide and the home side ran out comfortable winners, reaching 176-3 with just over 8 overs remaining.
