James Ralph signs with Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth Cricket Club have pulled off a major coup by signing Shropshire batsman James Ralph.

The stylish middle order stroke-maker has agreed to drop down three levels and leave Birmingham League premier division outfit Kidderminster to return to the club he played for two years earlier in his career.

The 36-year old former Shropshire captain has scored more than 4,000 Minor Counties runs, and his signing is a massive boost to Bridgnorth as the 1st XI aim to rebuild following relegation from Birmingham League Division Two last season.

“James is a great signing for us – he is a classy player and will bring a lot of experience,” said captain Mark MacPherson-Lees.

“We have got a three year plan in place to try and progress the club – and James Ralph is a major piece of the jigsaw.”

MacPherson-Lees is hopeful of making more winter signings following losing some players to other clubs, notably Herefordshire batsman Dave Exall to Brockhampton.
